Wise Words of Clarinda Cloud about Bullying and Rainbows

Hello everyone!  I have told you that I am a spokescloud for bullying prevention, right?  Well, I am.  I think it is so important to tell someone if you are being bullied.
Some people think it is tattling if you tell on a bully.  But, it isn't.  It actually may save someone from all kinds of hurt and pain.
So, if you know someone who is being a bully or is being hurt by a bully, tell a trusted adult.  It is not tattling.  It is caring.
My author, Jodi Desautels, created this poster to help you remember what I am saying.  I hope you like it!

Hello everyone!  My author, Jodi Desautels, hasn't been feeling well lately.  So, I thought it would be a cool idea to show you a poster that she created a while ago.  It might help to make her feel better.  Plus, she has been trying to rest and this is a great poster for resting.  LOL!  I thought it was kind of neat.  Wouldn't you like a cute poster of me that says, "Sweet Dreams?"
When she feels better, my author wants to try to find ways to create Clarinda Cloud products.  That means, I will get to be on all kinds of things and not just posters.  If you have any ideas for her, please feel free to contact us.

Indy Shares a Story About Bullying with Clarinda Cloud and also Talks about Art by Tracy Campbell

Picture
Hi everyone!  I am feeling excited and I am feeling sad today.  I am feeling excited, because I get to talk with a dog about a cool artist.  How neat is that?  Have you ever talked with a dog about a cool artist?

Picture
The artist's name is Tracy Campbell.  Oh, look at her smile.  It almost looks like mine.  I wonder if she is feeling happy or excited.

Jodi and Clarinda Cloud, thank you for inviting me to your blog.

Actually, my Chinese Crested Powder Puff will do all the talking. He wants to tell children about how poorly he treated his brother, and how children should react if they come across a bully.

Picture
This is Tracy's dog, Indy.  Indy is going to tell us a story.  This is the part that makes me feel kind of sad.  The story is about bullying.  I think bullying is a sad thing.  It hurts people.

Hi!  My name is Indygo. My mum calls me Indy. So you can too!

Picture
Before I tell you what happened, here’s one of my mum’s whimsical works of art of a poor bullied bunny.

Didn't I tell you that it is cool art?  Tracy draws so nicely.  Okay, Indy, please tell us your story.  I hope it has a happy ending.  I like happy endings.

Here’s what went down.

“Indy!” Mum said. “Stop chewing your brother’s ear.” She wagged her finger. “You’re acting like a bully.”

I let go of his soggy ear. “I am not a bully.”

“Yes, Indy,” Patches said. “You are. All you ever do is jump on my back, and then chew my ears.”

I barred my teeth. “Poor widdle baby.”

“Why are you being so mean to me?”

I gulped. Maybe Mum’s right. “P-Patches.” I tucked my tail between my legs. “I’m sorry I called you a poor widdle baby.”

Patches stretched out his front paws. “I forgive you.”

I licked his wet, black nose.

“Okay, okay. That’s enough. Now hop in my basket. It’s time for a nap.”

I didn’t need a second invite to jump in his comfy bed.

“Indy, stop circling.” Patches yawned. “Now go to sleep.”

I snuggled beside him. I have a lot to learn about treating my big brother better. I laid my head on his furry back and sighed.

***

I learned an important lesson that day. Even though Patches forgave me, I know I hurt his feelings which made him feel very sad.

So kiddies, if you run into a bully like me, here are five steps you can follow:

Don’t take it personally: Yup, I know that’s hard to do. But a bully is looking for the wrong kind of attention.

Smile: This will throw a bully off guard because he or she is waiting for you to burst into tears.

Keep a cool head: Ask them, “Why are you being so mean?” That will make a bully stop and think about his or her actions.

Hold your head high: Then walk away.

Tell a parent: If the bully doesn’t back off, run and tell your mum or pops. If you’re at school, tell your teacher.

So the next time someone bullies you, perhaps you can forgive them too! Just like my big brother did. He’s the best.

Has a bully been mean to you? How did you react?

You can read all about me and my mum over at www.tracycampbell.net. She has other cool artwork you can look at too. It’s over at www.tracy-campbell.artistwebsites.com.

Thanks Miss Jodi and Clarinda Cloud.

Hugs,

Indy J

Well, I am glad that story had a happy ending.  I feel happy now.  My author, Jodi Desautels, said that she won some art from Tracy once.  It is pretty!  Thank you, Tracy and Indy, for coming to my blog.  I had a fun time!  I hope you will check out Tracy's site and all her work!
Oh, and just to let you know, I am a spokescloud for anti-bullying, bullying awareness, and bullying prevention.  I am glad that Indy learned, not to be a bully and that he told people some things they can do if they are being bullied.  That is important.  It is important to always share your feelings…just like me!

Picture
Hello everyone!  I want to show you something cool!  My author, Jodi Desautels, has a monthly newsletter now.  It is called "Jam with Jodi."  LOL!  Isn't that a cool name?  This is my page!  There are other pages too.  There are pages for her author site, for her DUO Education site, for her books, and for her links.
She says that it only "summarizes" and "highlights" her work.  So, you should really visit and explore all her sites and links.  She uses big words some time.  But… I think it means that it only tells a little bit.  To find out all the news, you have to explore the sites.
To make it easier, Jodi Desautels even made a page  that shows all the editions of the newsletter.  It is called "Jam with Jodi" Monthly Newsletter Gallery.

Clarinda Cloud "Shows and Tells" about a Picture of Johnny Feeling Sad

Picture
Hello everyone!  Today, I thought I would talk about this picture.  It is kind of like "show and tell."  This picture was made by a caring illustrator, Sarah Bowman.
Look at the boy on the bed.  He doesn't look happy at all.  His arms and legs are crossed.  His mouth kind of droops down into a frown.  He looks like he is feeling sad.  Do you know why he is feeling sad?
It looks like it is raining outside.  I wonder if that is it. What do you think?
The boy's name is Johnny.  That is his mom in the picture with him.  I bet she will help him feel better.  My mom helps me feel better some time.
This picture is from the beginning of one of my author's other books called, "Johnny's Adventure Makes Reading Fun."

Picture
Here is the book.  Doesn't it look nice?  Sarah Bowman did a nice job with the illustrations.  Ooooh!  Wouldn't it be fun to ride a rocket and go into space?

Hi everyone!  You know how I like to talk about feelings.  I thought that I would talk about feelings with another character.  Look at this page.  Doesn't everyone look happy?

Hi Dylan.  What is the name of your book?
Hi Clarinda Cloud.  The name of my book is, "Dylan and the Croak Orleans Gang."

Oh cool.  The name of my book has my name in it too, just like the name of your book has your name in it.  I like this picture of you in your book.  You are the frog on the right playing the red electric guitar, right?
Yes.  That's me!  Thank you.  I like this picture too.

Who are all those other characters?
Well, they are my new friends.  There are too many names to remember.  But, if you read my book, you will meet them.

Everyone looks happy in this picture.  Is that true?
Yes.  We feel very happy in this picture.  We are all together and doing something that we really enjoy doing… making music together!

Sounds like you might even feel excited.
Yes, Clarinda Cloud.  I think you are right.  I think that is it.  I think we are feeling excited in this picture.  We are having a fabulous time together.  We are following our dreams.  That makes me feel very excited!

Do you turn purple when you feel excited, like I do?
No.  LOL!  I think I play music when I feel excited!  Or, maybe I feel excited when I play music.

Do you like being in a book?
Yes.  I like it.  I think it is cool!  And, my book helps to teach kids to follow their dreams.  It also helps to teach them about instruments.  I am proud of that!

Oh!  That sounds wonderful!  Do you turn black when you feel proud?
LOL!  No.

Are you going to be in any other books?
I don't know yet.  I asked my author and she didn't know either.  She said, "maybe."

My author's name is Jodi Desautels.  What is your author's name?
My author's name is Rhonda Patton.  My illustrator's name is Chester McDaniel.  They are married.

Do you have a website?
No.  I don't have a website of my own.  But… my author has one.  It has my book and other books by my author, Rhonda Patton.  You can check it out at www.thecroak500.com.  Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Why are you laughing, Dylan?  Is your author's website funny?
No.  I was just laughing because, you are talking to me on your website… you know, character to character.  And, your author talked to my author on her website, author to author.  I think it is neat.  Check it out here.

Ha! Ha! Ha!  Yes, Dylan, that is neat!  Dylan, where can people check out or buy your book?
They can do it on most of the places where they check out and buy your book.  Amazon.com is one of the places.  Will you put the links to your book and my book?  Then we can have our books listed together.  Maybe people will check them both out.

Sure.  Here they are:

Hello everyone!  I am purple today.  Do you know what that means?  That means I am feeling excited!!!
Are you wondering why I am feeling excited?  I am feeling excited because my author, Jodi Desautels, said that she has some exciting things planned for 2014.  She already has some changes on her websites.  She said to check them out at: www.ClarindaCloud.com (That's my site!), www.DUOEducation.com, and www.AuthorJodiDesautels.com.
Did you see the exciting new page on my site?  I am looking for drawings by kids!  No, these aren't any old drawings.  I am looking for drawings that show feelings.  I like to talk about feelings.  And, I thought of some the kids out there would like to help me.  My new Children's  Drawings of Feelings blog is where I will be posting them.  You can read more about it and get the permission slip on the About Children's Drawings of Feelings page.
Oh, and I have some more exciting news.  I got another wonderful book review this week.  I hope you will stop by and check it out.  I am feeling so excited about it!  You can see my book, "Clarinda Cloud," and check out all the lovely book reviews here.

Happy New Year and Resolve to Share Your Feelings

Picture
Hello, everyone!  Happy New Year!  My author, Jodi Desautels, made this poster for me.
I wanted a poster that tells everyone "Happy New Year" and to share their feelings.  Do you see that word, "resolve?"  That is a big word that adults use a lot at New Year's time.  It means to make a decision to do something.  So, I hope that you make a decision to share your feelings this year.
My author and I want to find new ways to help people to share their feelings this year.  One way is that I am going to be looking for children's drawings that show feelings.  I will show you more on Monday!

A Page From "Clarinda Cloud Activity Book" on Feeling Happy

12/18/2013

Picture
Hello everyone!  How are you feeling?  I have decided to share with you a page from the "Clarinda Cloud Activity Book."  And, hey look, there is a picture of me when I am feeling happy!  There is a page like this for every feeling that is in the "Clarinda Cloud" book, plus pages to practice other basic skills.
I like this activity, because it helps kids talk about feelings.  Kids get to draw a picture of what their face looks like when they are happy.  Maybe it will help them notice just what they feel and how they look when they are feeling happy.
Then, they get to draw something that makes them feel happy.  Older kids might be able to list a few things that make them feel happy and maybe write a story about one of them.
This may seem like it is really easy.  But, my author told me that sometimes even adults have trouble knowing what makes them feel happy.  So, it is better to teach kids to know what makes them feel happy when they are younger.  That way they don't feel so confused about it when they grow up.
     What makes you feel happy?

Picture
Please remember that my author is having a contest to give away a free "Clarinda Cloud" book.  All you have to do to enter is just answer two questions.

Here are the questions:
1.  Explore my site.  Tell me or my author if you there is a good way to get the word out about me, my site, my books, and my message about feelings.  I think my author calls that kind of stuff things like... "promotion"... "marketing"... "branding"....Um!  But...those words are too big for me!
2.  How many colors do I turn in my book?  (If you don't know... you might have to buy one.  I am not sure if my author has ever told anyone or not.  But... it will be worth it!)

If you would rather answer the questions on my author's other blogs, you can find them here:
DUO Education Learning Blog
What is New with Jodi Desautels?

My author says that she can only send books to addresses in the U.S. right now.  Thank you!  Good luck!

*Both of my author's ebooks will be free TODAY (12/18/13) on Kindle.  So, now is a great time to pick up a copy of "Johnny's Adventure Makes Reading Fun" and "Clarinda Cloud."

*Thank you for reading this blog.  Please explore the site and tell your friends about me!  Also, don't forget to share your feelings!

Next Wednesday is Christmas, so I won't be talking to you on Wednesday.  I will talk with you on Tuesday.  But, I will only wish you a Merry Christmas.
