Hello everyone.  How are you today?  My author, Jodi Desautels, made a simple drawing to look at today.  It is a good way to start talking about feelings with kids.
The drawing is of three girls.  Two of the girls, Karen and Susan, are jumping rope together.  Sally is all by herself.  She isn't doing anything.
Look at the faces on all the girls.  What do you think each girl is feeling?  What could Sally say to the girls?  What could Karen and Susan say to Sally?  What would make Sally feel better?

Hi everyone.  I hope you all had a nice Easter.  You may have noticed that I haven't posted lately.
My author has had a difficult time lately.  She hopes to be back soon.  She said that she has had some changes and she has a lot of thinking to do.
Jodi Desautels told me that she is thinking.  She is trying to figure out what she needs to do next.  Hmmm! I wonder if she is telling someone her feelings.  I know that I always feel better when I share my feelings.
I hope she feels better soon.  We both hope to have a regular blog next week.  But, she did say that things might have to change.  So, I don't know.  Jodi Desautels said that she would tell me if she makes any changes, and I will tell you.

Clarinda Cloud Shares a Video on Drawing Emotions by Will Terry

Hi everyone!  My author and I came across a wonderful video on teaching kids to draw emotions.  Isn't that so cool?
It is so important to share your feelings.  And, I know that it is sometimes hard to say how you are feeling.  Sometimes it is easier to draw what you are feeling.  But, do you know how to draw the different emotions?
Will Terry makes the video very exciting!  Yes, I am turning purple already.  (Purple is the color I turn when I am feeling excited!  He has a spider named Tex that is purple.  But, Will says that Tex is happy.  So, maybe purple is Tex's happy color.  LOL!) Will makes it easy to follow his instructions too!

I know I liked the video!  I hope you do too!  And, Will has more drawing videos if you like this one!  I am hoping that I will be able to chat with Will about his drawing and videos some time.  If I do, I will share it with you.

Clarinda Cloud Shares a Video Promoting Art Therapy

Hello everyone.  When I have different feelings, I change different colors.  But, most boys and girls don't change colors with their feelings.  And, they may not know how to express their feelings.
That is one reason that my book is so important.  My book is a way to help teach young boys and girls to name and share their feelings.  You can start all kinds of nice talks about feelings with my book?  You can talk about how your face looks when you feel a certain feeling.  Or, you can ask what makes each other what makes you feel certain feelings.
Sometimes, children have a hard time sharing their feelings.  They might be too scared to tell someone.  Or, they might not know what they feel or how to say it.
Some people use art therapy to help share their feelings.  That is when you use drawing, painting, molding clay, or something like that to help share your feelings.  Here is a video to help explain it.  It is probably better for the adults out there to watch the video, because it can be hard for kids to understand.  But…kids can watch it too.  There is nothing bad in it or anything like that.
Taylor Freeman is not only an art therapist.  She is also an author, like Jodi Desautels.  Very cool!

Clarinda Cloud Shares a Video By Barbara Lester about Teaching Children with Autism to Express Feelings

Hello everyone.  Today, my author has a treat for you.  Jodi Desautels found a video with Barbara Lester on teaching children with autism how to express their feelings.  Isn't that exciting?  I am turning all purple as we speak.  Yes, that means I am feeling excited.
You know that I like to talk about sharing feelings.  I think my books, "Clarinda Cloud" and "Clarinda Cloud Activity Book" would be great to use in  helping children  with autism and all young children express their feelings.
Barbara Lester is a clinical social worker who works with children with autism.  One of the things she says that will help is to draw pictures of different emotions.  That is exactly what some of the activities in "Clarinda Cloud Activity Book" involves.  Yay!  She also says that it would be good to show the children pictures of faces that show different emotions.  Wow!  That is what is in my book, "Clarinda Cloud."  I have different feelings and my author/illustrator (Jodi Desautels) drew me with different faces.

Hello everyone.  I feel many feelings today.  But… I share my feelings, so I always feel better.  Do you share your feelings?
This will be short.  My author, Jodi Desautels, has been feeling tired and a little sick.  I feel sorry that she isn't feeling better.  That is one of my feelings.  Do you know what color I turn when I am feeling sorry?
I am also feeling excited!  (Do you know what color I turn when I am feeling excited?)  My author said that my book, "Clarinda Cloud" is free today and tomorrow on Kindle.  Jodi Desautels says that one of her other books, "Johnny's Adventure Makes Reading Fun" is also free today and tomorrow on Kindle.  She said that both of our books have some really good reviews and that means that people like the books.  (If you get my book, you will be able to answer my questions about what colors I turn when I am feeling different feelings.)  If you get the books and like them too, maybe you can write a review too!  That would be nice of you!
Do you know what?  I am feeling proud too!  (Do you know what color I turn when I am feeling proud?)  My author said that she has been working very hard on her websites and practicing her illustrating skills.  Please explore her author site at www.AuthorJodiDesautels.com and her education site (DUO Education) at www.DUOEducation.com.  She said she has been doing a lot of work on DUO Education lately.
Oh, and I think she is proud of me too.  She sometimes calls me "her star."  And, she talks about me all the time.  Today she talks about me on "Grace & Faith 4 U."  (That is someone else's site.)  I think she said it is called an "interview."

Indy Shares a Story About Bullying with Clarinda Cloud and also Talks about Art by Tracy Campbell

Picture
Hi everyone!  I am feeling excited and I am feeling sad today.  I am feeling excited, because I get to talk with a dog about a cool artist.  How neat is that?  Have you ever talked with a dog about a cool artist?

Picture
The artist's name is Tracy Campbell.  Oh, look at her smile.  It almost looks like mine.  I wonder if she is feeling happy or excited.

Jodi and Clarinda Cloud, thank you for inviting me to your blog.

Actually, my Chinese Crested Powder Puff will do all the talking. He wants to tell children about how poorly he treated his brother, and how children should react if they come across a bully.

Picture
This is Tracy's dog, Indy.  Indy is going to tell us a story.  This is the part that makes me feel kind of sad.  The story is about bullying.  I think bullying is a sad thing.  It hurts people.

Hi!  My name is Indygo. My mum calls me Indy. So you can too!

Picture
Before I tell you what happened, here’s one of my mum’s whimsical works of art of a poor bullied bunny.

Didn't I tell you that it is cool art?  Tracy draws so nicely.  Okay, Indy, please tell us your story.  I hope it has a happy ending.  I like happy endings.

Here’s what went down.

“Indy!” Mum said. “Stop chewing your brother’s ear.” She wagged her finger. “You’re acting like a bully.”

I let go of his soggy ear. “I am not a bully.”

“Yes, Indy,” Patches said. “You are. All you ever do is jump on my back, and then chew my ears.”

I barred my teeth. “Poor widdle baby.”

“Why are you being so mean to me?”

I gulped. Maybe Mum’s right. “P-Patches.” I tucked my tail between my legs. “I’m sorry I called you a poor widdle baby.”

Patches stretched out his front paws. “I forgive you.”

I licked his wet, black nose.

“Okay, okay. That’s enough. Now hop in my basket. It’s time for a nap.”

I didn’t need a second invite to jump in his comfy bed.

“Indy, stop circling.” Patches yawned. “Now go to sleep.”

I snuggled beside him. I have a lot to learn about treating my big brother better. I laid my head on his furry back and sighed.

***

I learned an important lesson that day. Even though Patches forgave me, I know I hurt his feelings which made him feel very sad.

So kiddies, if you run into a bully like me, here are five steps you can follow:

Don’t take it personally: Yup, I know that’s hard to do. But a bully is looking for the wrong kind of attention.

Smile: This will throw a bully off guard because he or she is waiting for you to burst into tears.

Keep a cool head: Ask them, “Why are you being so mean?” That will make a bully stop and think about his or her actions.

Hold your head high: Then walk away.

Tell a parent: If the bully doesn’t back off, run and tell your mum or pops. If you’re at school, tell your teacher.

So the next time someone bullies you, perhaps you can forgive them too! Just like my big brother did. He’s the best.

Has a bully been mean to you? How did you react?

You can read all about me and my mum over at www.tracycampbell.net. She has other cool artwork you can look at too. It’s over at www.tracy-campbell.artistwebsites.com.

Thanks Miss Jodi and Clarinda Cloud.

Hugs,

Indy J

Picture
Well, I am glad that story had a happy ending.  I feel happy now.  My author, Jodi Desautels, said that she won some art from Tracy once.  It is pretty!  Thank you, Tracy and Indy, for coming to my blog.  I had a fun time!  I hope you will check out Tracy's site and all her work!
Oh, and just to let you know, I am a spokescloud for anti-bullying, bullying awareness, and bullying prevention.  I am glad that Indy learned, not to be a bully and that he told people some things they can do if they are being bullied.  That is important.  It is important to always share your feelings…just like me!

Clarinda Cloud "Shows and Tells" about a Picture of Johnny Feeling Sad

Picture
Hello everyone!  Today, I thought I would talk about this picture.  It is kind of like "show and tell."  This picture was made by a caring illustrator, Sarah Bowman.
Look at the boy on the bed.  He doesn't look happy at all.  His arms and legs are crossed.  His mouth kind of droops down into a frown.  He looks like he is feeling sad.  Do you know why he is feeling sad?
It looks like it is raining outside.  I wonder if that is it. What do you think?
The boy's name is Johnny.  That is his mom in the picture with him.  I bet she will help him feel better.  My mom helps me feel better some time.
This picture is from the beginning of one of my author's other books called, "Johnny's Adventure Makes Reading Fun."

Picture
Here is the book.  Doesn't it look nice?  Sarah Bowman did a nice job with the illustrations.  Ooooh!  Wouldn't it be fun to ride a rocket and go into space?

Hi everyone!  You know how I like to talk about feelings.  I thought that I would talk about feelings with another character.  Look at this page.  Doesn't everyone look happy?

Hi Dylan.  What is the name of your book?
Hi Clarinda Cloud.  The name of my book is, "Dylan and the Croak Orleans Gang."

Oh cool.  The name of my book has my name in it too, just like the name of your book has your name in it.  I like this picture of you in your book.  You are the frog on the right playing the red electric guitar, right?
Yes.  That's me!  Thank you.  I like this picture too.

Who are all those other characters?
Well, they are my new friends.  There are too many names to remember.  But, if you read my book, you will meet them.

Everyone looks happy in this picture.  Is that true?
Yes.  We feel very happy in this picture.  We are all together and doing something that we really enjoy doing… making music together!

Sounds like you might even feel excited.
Yes, Clarinda Cloud.  I think you are right.  I think that is it.  I think we are feeling excited in this picture.  We are having a fabulous time together.  We are following our dreams.  That makes me feel very excited!

Do you turn purple when you feel excited, like I do?
No.  LOL!  I think I play music when I feel excited!  Or, maybe I feel excited when I play music.

Do you like being in a book?
Yes.  I like it.  I think it is cool!  And, my book helps to teach kids to follow their dreams.  It also helps to teach them about instruments.  I am proud of that!

Oh!  That sounds wonderful!  Do you turn black when you feel proud?
LOL!  No.

Are you going to be in any other books?
I don't know yet.  I asked my author and she didn't know either.  She said, "maybe."

My author's name is Jodi Desautels.  What is your author's name?
My author's name is Rhonda Patton.  My illustrator's name is Chester McDaniel.  They are married.

Do you have a website?
No.  I don't have a website of my own.  But… my author has one.  It has my book and other books by my author, Rhonda Patton.  You can check it out at www.thecroak500.com.  Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Why are you laughing, Dylan?  Is your author's website funny?
No.  I was just laughing because, you are talking to me on your website… you know, character to character.  And, your author talked to my author on her website, author to author.  I think it is neat.  Check it out here.

Ha! Ha! Ha!  Yes, Dylan, that is neat!  Dylan, where can people check out or buy your book?
They can do it on most of the places where they check out and buy your book.  Amazon.com is one of the places.  Will you put the links to your book and my book?  Then we can have our books listed together.  Maybe people will check them both out.

Sure.  Here they are:
