![]() Hello everyone! How are you feeling? I have decided to share with you a page from the "Clarinda Cloud Activity Book." And, hey look, there is a picture of me when I am feeling happy! There is a page like this for every feeling that is in the "Clarinda Cloud" book, plus pages to practice other basic skills. I like this activity, because it helps kids talk about feelings. Kids get to draw a picture of what their face looks like when they are happy. Maybe it will help them notice just what they feel and how they look when they are feeling happy. Then, they get to draw something that makes them feel happy. Older kids might be able to list a few things that make them feel happy and maybe write a story about one of them. This may seem like it is really easy. But, my author told me that sometimes even adults have trouble knowing what makes them feel happy. So, it is better to teach kids to know what makes them feel happy when they are younger. That way they don't feel so confused about it when they grow up. What makes you feel happy? ![]() Please remember that my author is having a contest to give away a free "Clarinda Cloud" book. All you have to do to enter is just answer two questions. Here are the questions: 1. Explore my site. Tell me or my author if you there is a good way to get the word out about me, my site, my books, and my message about feelings. I think my author calls that kind of stuff things like... "promotion"... "marketing"... "branding"....Um! But...those words are too big for me! 2. How many colors do I turn in my book? (If you don't know... you might have to buy one. I am not sure if my author has ever told anyone or not. But... it will be worth it!) If you would rather answer the questions on my author's other blogs, you can find them here: DUO Education Learning Blog What is New with Jodi Desautels? My author says that she can only send books to addresses in the U.S. right now. Thank you! Good luck! *Both of my author's ebooks will be free TODAY (12/18/13) on Kindle. So, now is a great time to pick up a copy of "Johnny's Adventure Makes Reading Fun" and "Clarinda Cloud." *Thank you for reading this blog. Please explore the site and tell your friends about me! Also, don't forget to share your feelings! ![]() Next Wednesday is Christmas, so I won't be talking to you on Wednesday. I will talk with you on Tuesday. But, I will only wish you a Merry Christmas.
![]() Hi! I am so excited! Yes, that means that I am turning purple! I know. You are probably wondering why I am feeling so excited. I am feeling excited, because I am going to talk about the feelings of one of the characters in this book today. ![]() The illustrator is going to help me talk about this book. Her name is Karen Deming. She did a beautiful job making the illustrations. Look at Karen's smile. She looks like she is feeling happy here. I smile when I am feeling happy too! When Karen illustrates a book, she has to show the feelings of the characters with her pictures. There is a little girl in this story, named Shug, that has many feelings. The little girl is in a pink dress. Look how Karen draws the little girl to show her feelings. ![]() Do you see Shug in the pink dress? She looks like she is feeling happy here. She is smiling, just like Karen and I do when we are feeling happy. Karen said this picture is from the beginning of the book. It looks like Shug is thinking about going to the circus. I bet her mom and dad told her how much fun the circus can be. ![]() Uh oh! Shug doesn't look like she is feeling happy here! Karen, can you tell us about this picture please? While waiting in line for her circus ticket, Shug's little brother tugs on her braid. This hurts, and Shug doesn't like it. She shows her feelings of being angry with her brother by lowering her eyebrows, and tightening her lips. Do you do that when you are angry? My face kind of looks like that too, when I am feeling angry. And, when I am feeling angry, I turn red. ![]() Here is another picture of Shug. Karen, can you please tell us about how Shug is feeling in this picture? Shug's brothers are playing, but she is sad. Can you tell that Shug is sad? Her eyes and eyebrows are low, and her lower lip is sticking out a bit. Poor little Shug. ![]() Thank you, Karen, for showing us these illustrations. They are very nice. I like the way you showed all the different feelings. I also like all the colors in the illustrations. You are a very nice illustrator. This book is called: "The Swizzledorfers Visit the Big Top" and it can be purchased on Karen's website at www.karendeming.com. She also has more exciting illustrations there. If you want me to talk about your book or illustrations, please contact me and my author, so we can discuss the "possibilities." Notes and Announcements*My author, Jodi Desautels, is going to be giving her ebooks away on Kindle on December 17th and 18th. My book, "Clarinda Cloud" is one of the books being given away. The other one is "Johnny's Adventure Makes Reading Fun." My author says that getting a book during an ebook giveaway is a great way to see if you want to buy the book in softcover, to have a book to take on a trip or in the car, or to review the book for the author. I hope you give my book and my author's other books a review.
*My author said that she will be "co-hosting" (whatever that means) a fun event on Facebook on December 17th. She said it is called "2nd Annual Author Christmas Giveaway." You are all invited. It will be fun! It is a great way to meet all kinds of authors and chat with them online. *Also, Jodi Desautels is still having a giveaway contest on all of her blogs to help her make her websites more fun and interesting for everyone. People can comment for a chance to win a copy of my book, "Clarinda Cloud." She said that she wanted to have more "interaction" and "feedback." (Sometimes she uses big words. I don't always understand them. So, I just copy her words. I trust her.) She said to follow these links for more information and to comment for your chance to win. Thank you! ~DUO Education Learning Blog ~Clarinda Cloud's Feelings Blog ~What is New with Jodi Desautels? ![]() Hi everyone! How are you? I am feeling excited! Do you know what color that makes me turn in the book?
Anyway, I am excited because my book is getting a different cover. My author wasn't sure if the other one was eye catching enough. What do you think of it? I like it very much! This cover has more colors than my other one. And, there is a cute little sun that tells my story is about colors and feelings. You won't be able to buy the book for a day or two while it is getting a new cover. But...then you will be able to get the same great book with an even better cover! Yay! I have more news too! Actually, I have two more things to tell you. First, I am going to be talking about feelings on my blog. I am also going to be talking about some children's books and illustrations. I want to help authors and illustrators get the word out about their books by talking about the feelings of a character in their books. That way adults and children will know what the book is about and what kind of feelings are in the book. Doesn't that sound exciting! I like talking about and sharing feelings! My other news is that my author is having a contest! You can have a chance of winning one of the "Clarinda Cloud" books by answering at least two questions on my author's blogs about this contest. It can be any two questions from here or from her other blogs. Then, my author will pick a name from all the people who answer at least two of the questions at the end of the month or beginning of the year. If nobody answers at least two questions, she will donate a book to a person or place. If you win and would rather donate a book, please contact me or my author. Here are the questions: 1. Explore my site. Tell me or my author if you there is a good way to get the word out about me, my site, my books, and my message about feelings.
